I just got a sheet of 1/4" birch plywood and realized there was veneer on one side. I called the store and they said that's how it all comes. I've worked with 5'x5' baltic birch and there was no veneer. Is it true that you can't get regular birch plywood without the veneer?

All plywood is made up of layers of veneer... baltic birch has birch veneer top to bottom with the grain alternating between cross-grain and long grain. Cheaper plywoods use cheaper veneers between the top and the bottom to keep the costs down.

That's a bummer. The veneer never seems to stick completely.
Thanks Jim!!
