Ron, I installed the new screenset. Love the ability to toggle jog modes without having to bring up the jog screen. One minor thing is that the vacuum button doesn't seem to work for me, I hear it click in the machine but it doesn't actually power the outlet. M8 command works fine in g-code. Any way to fix that? Thanks, Martin

Hi Martin,
I would have a look and make sure all the wires are on the relay. If the relay is clicking it should be operating. Switching the front receptacle on and off.
Or check and make sure it is operating the right relay. The LED behind it will indicate.
Ron

Aloha guys! My WD-1 arrived and is currently residing on the bench in my living/bedroom. ( It's close to the design PC and no mosquitoes. ) It's a beautiful piece of technology and holds its' own with anything I worked with at Boeing's Manufacturing Tech Lab. Ron did a great job and I'm looking forward to years of happy woodwork once I get the drywall done in the shop. ( The dust and shavings are starting to accumulate in here. )
I've loaded the new Mach3 screen and really like the clean functionality compared to the other one. I'd like to take advantage of the zeroing routines. Are there specific input pins allocated in the screen software or do I just pick my favorites and assign them in Mach3?

Greg
Great that your WD1 arrived, you will like it.
You are right on the HS1 and the WD1 being a beautiful piece of technology, I have the HS-1 and for the first 20 minutes after taking it out of the box I just looked everything over and was VERY happy to see the quality of Ron’s machines.

Guys ... I am in agreement with your comments; Ron builds a great machine. I keep telling my wife I am already thinking about my next one as soon as Ron introduces a larger table size. This little machine coupled to a PC with Aspire software opens up a lot of possibilities. I just finished another small project ..... lumberjocks.com/projects/18970Thanks Ron! Ray

Thanks for the nice compliments..
Ray, That cutting board is something else. Great job..
Thanks, Ron
Re: The larger machine mentioned. We are in the process of moving right now and we'll have room to build these larger machine platforms. In the works is a 5x5 60 X 60 machine with about 50x50 inches of travels. Will accommodate a half sheet of material. We are implementing many new innovations that overcome some of the problems with these larger table sizes. Such as motor slaving, we're doing away with reliance on software function to keep the table square. It will be a lot of aluminum weldments machined to dims. Base will be a steel fabrication. Is going to resemble the WD in appearance, but many new features and methods implemented. Hidden drive mechanism, etc. Should be a very nice friendly to use machine.

Ron Hi Ron, I'll open the tray to check the relays but doesn't the button control the same relay M8 command does? M8 turns it on and off fine. Thanks, Martin

Martin,
Let me know what you find out. Sounds like it is just a wire off or something. On the website there is schematic that shows each relay and the pin number associated, if that helps.
Thanks, Ron

Ron, Just got back from a long vacation (4 months). I downloaded the new screenset and the offline button you put on for me is gone. Am i blind or what? I do use the button often....thanks. Can't wait to start cutting again. I really missed my machine.

Hi,
Did I make you a screenset and send it to you? If so click "View" and "Load screens" then find that screen and load. If you can't find it let me know and I'll make another for you.
Thanks, Ron

Thanks, Ron Ron, It's turning on a relay which has no output wires (second relay from the left - Pin 16). M8 command turns on the third relay from the left (Pin 14) which is connected to the outlet controlling dust collection hookup. Is there a missing connection or should it be controlling a different relay instead? Thanks, Martin

Martin,
Please explain exactly what it is you're expecting from the outputs and what the outputs are doing. If this is a case of an M command switching the wrong relay, you can simply change the pin numbers in Config/Ports and pins/outputs. From right to left looking from the front of the machine, the relay to the left is output4 controls the power supply for the motors, the one to it's right is output 3 (not used), then output 2 (M7) , and output 1 which should be the relay all the way to the right and controls the spindle with an M3 command in the Gcode.

Ron Ron, What is happening is M7 turns on output 3 instead of output 2. M8 turns on output 2 and that's what I normally use in my code to control dust collection, that's why it hasn't really been an issue. Is there a way to change the output that M7 controls? Thanks, Martin

Martin,
Sure, just go into Ports and pins/outputs and swap the pin numbers for outputs 2 and 3. Should be pretty simple to do.
