I ordered my HS-1 a couple weeks ago, and to pass the time, I've been ordering accessories (and going broke ).
I'm planning on cutting a lot of pieces where the endmill needs to do full outside profiles, so clamps are out of the question. Didn't like the sound of double sided carpet tape. A friend suggested I look into getting a vacuum table.
A quick search on Ebay turned up a German seller that manufactures a wide range of low profile, aluminum top vacuum tables that can be run off a household vacuum cleaner. They have one model, the VT4432, which looks perfect. It has a working area of 440mm x320mm (17.32" x 12.6"), and is about 1" high. They sent me the DXF for the unit, and I compared it with the Romaxx cast aluminum table I ordered. Turns out the mounting slots for the vacuum table align perfectly with Romaxx's bolt pattern (the center of all 4 slots on the vacuum table form a square 8" x 18", give or take a few 10ths of a mil.
Here's the unit: cgi.ebay.com/Vakuumtisch-4432SEAL-CNC-Fraesmaschine-Graviermaschine_W0QQitemZ190243666065QQcmdZViewItemQQptZRohstoffe_Materialien?hash=item2c4b67f891&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A1|293%3A1|294%3A50
The unit uses ablative rubber mats that have holes punched to match the holes in the table, which they sell cheaply in quantity.
I'll post my experience with it once I receive the unit (and my new Romaxx HS-1
All the best,
Ken.
