hi, maybe I forgot some info. I used vcarvepro V5, Cut3d and Mach3. How can I do a piece longer than my HS1 table ?? I know that I have to move the piece but how I can I do it accurately? Toolpath or reference point I don't have any clue. Sorry for my english. HAve a nice day Gilles

Hi Gilles,
You'll need to set a fence guide parallel with the long axis. in your program put a hole every 15" or so in the edge of your workpiece, make that X 0 Y0. Draw your individual programs from that point. Simply drop a dowell in the spindle in the first hole, reference there, at the end of the program drop a hole 15" from the first, that will then be your starting point for the next section. when done slide workpiece down and reference in the next hole. There are many ways to do this and techniques to achieve the various methods. Think 35mm film with the holes in the edge, and work off of those holes. The holes could be laid out prior to start, make the stock wider and trim these registration holes off after completion. Also by clever design, alignment can be made not so critical by overlapping elements of the design so as to look as done in all one operation.
Fixturing and setup are a large part of any machining process. The more preplanning, the better the results.
Hopefully I answered your question.
If you need further help, feel free.
Thanks, Ron

Thank you Ron. I will try to do it that way and I'll also try to figure how to split the toolpath in vcarve pro. Happy hollyday ! gilles
