Hi Folks,
Can anyone tell me how to register a piece after moving it?
We need to route an image on a 4' board, but the board is to long for our system (WD-1), so it needs to be moved and the cutting must register.
Thanks, Linda

Linda and Jim,
Make your workpiece a bit wider than the intended finished dimension.
Just like a filmstrip that has holes on it's edges for registration and alignment in a projector, use a hole on the edge of your workpiece for registration.
When you draw your design, Make X0 Y0 the top or bottom left and a small distance off of your actual cutting area/toolpath. This is where a registration hole will be put in the workpiece. If your toolpath is 48" perhaps in X then two registration holes on 24" centers will suffice.
Assuming the long axis is X: Mount a fence in line with X axis. Put your workpiece in and run the first section of your code. Before the workpiece is moved, drop perhaps a .25" hole in the upper left of the workpiece, out of your intended finish area. Now, when you slide the workpiece down the fence, drop a .25" bit in the hole after the workpiece is reclamped. Zero X and Y. Now you are a known distance from your last machining operation. If you are working on 24 inch intervals, go up to X DRO and enter 24.000" and hit "enter". Before the workpiece is moved again, drop another hole at the same interval. Using this method will enable a piece to be ran with an unlimited length.
