New WD-1
I installed the card in my pc and it says working. installed mach3 and moved in the file for it and my license file.
Mach 3 will not clear and nothing moves on the WD-1 using the keyboard or anything..
Looks like this is the same problem someone else had in another post that was fixed by a phone call.
So i guess i need a call to for this. Ed (850) 346-7286
Will be up late tonight so it is ok to call tonight or Monday later in the day.
Thanks

I reloaded in the drivers for the card - did not work
I checked the robin cable and it is hooked up.
Numbers are right 0x378.
Re-loaded the XML file - i only have one install of mach 3 so it is in the folder.
Still not working??

Have you turned the machine on? Make sur that mach3 in initialized then push, turn and release the emergency stop button. You should hear the motors engage.

The port address/driver is more than likely not right. We sent out a parallel port card because your PC does not have one. The driver for that port card must be loaded from the included disc. And I've never seen one install and issue a port address of 0378, that is a Windows OEM port address for LPT1. When installing the port, point to the Netmos 9805 folder on the included disc during the install.
Windows will always say the port is working, regardless if it is or isn't.
The address for that card is typically letters and numerals. i.e. E8F8 etc.
To get the port address after the driver is installed. Go to Control panel/system/device manager/ports and select the port just installed. Double click on it, then click on resources, the upper left four characters in the field are the port address. They must be entered in Mach3 on the Ports and Pins screen. Mach3 will add the "x" hexadecimal automatically. i.e. 0x378.

Still not working.
I have a new PC now with win 7 and only mach 3 loaded in and drivers.
The new pc is working great. Have it hooked up to the WD-1 and nothing.
The port drivers are loaded in and setup for the device. The wd-1 file is moved into mach 3 It now lets me do a reset in the software.
The jogging works using the keyboard now only on screen i see the numbers changing but the WD-1 is just dead no movement no sound just the yellow light is lit.
Not sure what to do now.
Support please call me (850) 346-7286 i will try and call Sunday. I stay up late if you want to call tonight Saturday.
Thanks

If the DRO's are running up and down in MAch3 and the machine is not responding, that suggests the XML is not loaded.
Go to Config/Motor Tuning and are the steps per unit 5833? If not, the XML is not loaded.
What is the port address for Port 1 In Windows? Also is this a PCIExpress parallel port? Or is it the port we sent you.
Make sure you only have one Mach3 folder, sometimes folks will do multiple installations and make changes in one folder while operating out of another.
Let me know, I'll be checking back here throughout the day.

Hi, I want to build out another PC over the coming holidays to replace the old Dell PC. Is there a recommended hardware list for the Parallel interface? I intend to build a Windows 7 machine that will be dedicated to the HS1 with only Mach 3 and the minimum software to maintain security/compliance. Thank you, Larry Best

Hi Larry,
Any PC that will run Windows 7 will run Mach3. Just make sure it is Windows 7 32 bit. Mach3 will not run with parallel port support in Windows 7 64 bit.
Thanks, Ron

Thank you Ron! Any recommendation or preference of parallel port card? I'm going to build something new, so will need a discrete card for that port. Thank you, Larry Best

Larry,
We use the PCI ECP/EPP printer port with the Netmos 9805 chipset with success. The driver is a bit problematic to load sometimes. If it's a new PC, I would suggest using a PCI express parallel port in a PCI express bay in the PC instead.
A note to Windows 7 users, there is a quirk in Mach3 on these systems where the Parallel ports will not work when first installed. Go to the main Mach3 folder and run the "Drivertest.exe" Then the ports will work. It triggers something and gets them working.
Thanks, Ron
