Newbie here with a question involving Machinist prior to exporting file for VCP. On the tool path preview screen in Machinist there is a spot to enter the Scale Factor. I have no idea what the scale factor should be or how it affects the tool paths. I'm running the WD1. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome, Jim.
I assume you mean the Mach3 tool path preview screen? It should always be 1 unless you want to increase the size of the product... a 2 in each scale would double the size it cuts. I never mess with scale, if I want change the size I do it in VCP. I'm in Kansas City, Kansas... you are welcome to visit sometime if you want a little tutoring with VCP or the WD-1.

Jim,
Appreciate your response. I didn't make myself clear, sorry about that. The screen with the scale factor that I'm in reference to is the tool path preview screen in VectorArt 3D's Machinist.
I'm going to try one of the 3D images then bring in into VCP and try it. This will be my first attempt.

Jim, Jim here,
The scale factor allows you to adjust the machining estimated time for your machine. It is an estimate and will vary based on how detailed your model is.
You adjust it by monitoring the time it actually takes to machine a model, then go back into the file and adjust the scale factor until you get close to the estimated machining time. Do this a few times and you should arrive at a fair estimate.
