First substantial cuts on a WD-1 after some tests with engraving - and facing up a spoil board... It was .250 aluminum, don't remember the alloy (scrap), maybe 20204T3. Cutter was single flute .125, cuts were shallow at about .005, rpm was 24k and the feed I adjusted around 1ips so I don't know what I ended up at...at times I was at 120% so... all worked very well, the only issue I had was getting the vacuum hose secured into a position that would not affect the Z axis while in a deep cut. This should just be a routing and clamping fix. I don't plan on using the machine to mill .250 aluminum but it was nice to see that its capable. Very happy with the results. Attachments:
