Hi all!
Just ordered my WD-1, now I'll need a PC to run Mach3 and vectric software.
There's a used desktop local to me, an HP Compaq dx2300 Core 2 Duo E4400.
Specs: INTEL DESKTOP PROCESSOR WITH "GENIUS" RATING
INTEL 64 bit CORE 2 DUO E4400 PROCESSOR Two independent processor cores, each running at 2.0GHz, in one physical package with a shared 2MB L2 cache and a 800MHz FSB to provide truly parallel computing for enhanced multi-application performance and the new energy-efficient architecture minimizes power consumption for better thermal performance.
INTEGRATED INTEL GMA 3000 GRAPHICS CORE The onboard Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3000 (GMA 3000) graphics core is powered by Intel's innovative hybrid graphics architecture and Clear Video Technology for incredible 3D realism and home theater entertainment to meet the needs of today and tomorrow.
1GB DDR2 MEMORY
160GB SATA HARD DRIVE
Anyone have an idea if this will work well? Is the 64 bit processing an issue?
Thanks!
Gary

How did it work out? Did you use a UC100?

Most likely a little late on reply, but your PC will be more than enough to run Mach3 and any of the VCarve software. Not sure about Mach3 and 64 bit. Reading a bit about it it seem there was never a driver for the parallel port.
Thought I might have done it but I may have been using the smoothstepper board if I did.
