I've been using hold down clamps up to this point in time on my WD1. I'd like to convert to a vac hold down system but not sure what it encompasses. I'm looking for information on how to set one up and what equipment I would need to purchase. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hey, ya I'm am super new here and to CNC, but am looking for exactly the same thing. I am looking at this site right now www.clampusystems.com/Vac%20Tables.html, though the large sized tables are Mucho $$$$$ So I'm gona keep poking around looking for some DIY options, or is it possible to use a smaller sized vac table and incorporate it into an mdf table like the one that comes stock with the WD1. I imagine we could route out an area to drop a unit that is a portion of the overall table size so we could have a vac area and a clamp area (if you could only afford a smaller sized vac table) Good luck and let me know if you find any good solutions, I'm keen to find out as well

I am doing the last of the testing on my vacuum table and should be done shortly. I will be posting a thread shortly with pictures and descriptions of the system.
The main difference in my design compared to clampusystems.com is i will be using a top spoil board just in case the machine or operator makes a mistake.

I have never done it but I have found the below site has just about everything you would need to know and have to create a vacuum system. www.joewoodworker.com/veneering/vacuumclamping.htmPart 5 has some items that would make a good easy to set up/remove when using the system.
