www.machsupport.com/software/mach4/ has an announcement: We have released Mach4 Hobby. Check the availability of a motion control plugin for your device before buying. Is there a motion control plug-in for the Romaxx machines in the works?

Thats the question I'd like to know the answer to myself. Will a MACH4 post processor for the WD-1 be available soon?

I asked the guys at Newfangled about this and here is the reply:
Hi Ron,
Mach4Hobby is the replacement for Mach3. It essentially has the same functionality, though it is very different (configuring is not the same, the scripting language is totally different, the screens are totally different, etc) and it does not inherently come with a parallel port driver (Darwin is a seperate download and costs money to license). There is information and screenshots available on the Mach4 product page of the website, though my advice for Mach4 is the same as Mach3 - download it and play with it... ;-)
Scott
Although I think their software is really good for the price, it is typically in development a long time after release (Mach3 was many years). From the sound of it, it's not much different than Mach3. It's main purpose was to cater to all the different proprietary stand alone controls. Any benefit for us? I don't think it really is.
Of course, feel free to download it and have a play with it. If you need anything from me I'll be more then happy to help with it. But by Scott saying it's not much different, I don't see any point. From what I understand there are different levels of Mach4 and each is progressively more expensive, much more than Mach3. Looks like the low-end Hobby version is 225 dollars with parallel port support.
