I haven't seen a lot of projects being posted out here lately so I thought I'd put one up. This is my latest effort for the new grandson that is on the way. Just simple 2" cubes of Douglas fir cut from a Lowes 4x4. I made a simple jig to hold 4 blocks at a time and cut the relief on the CNC machine. Pretty simple actually but a lot of fun. As with most projects, the hardest part is sanding them smooth and rounding the edges and corners. Bruce Attachments:

Great idea Bruce, would like to know the procedure you did. Did you complete each block on the router or do the tops on board and cut them out with saw? Have a grand daughter I think I will do her name in blocks after looking at yours.

Nothing fancy. I cut a bunch of 2x2x2 blocks out of the 4x4. Then I racked up 4 blocks at a time in a jig and did one side in upper case then flipped em over to do the other side to do the lower case. I probably could have made a big enough jig to do the all at the same time but this seemed the best way to do it for a one shot thing.
I saw a T-Shirt once about wood working that I loved and applies to this project especially. It read something like;
Measure Measure Cut Sand Sand Sand Sand Sand

Know the feeling about Sanding.
Thanks you have given me an idea on how I may want to do her name in 2D on a plaque type setting.
