Hi guys. I have a new HS-1 for my gamefish lure-making startup. The machine seems to have suffered a bit in transport to the far ends of the planet. The packaging was slightly compromised, and the ballscrew was coated with fine steel grit. I didn't notice this until I first ran the machine and heard the z-axis complaining. I have had to strip the z-axis to unpack and clean the ballscrew. I'm still having problems with the z-axis stalling and dropping the zero on longer upward travel. On Ron's advice I have reduced the acceleration (now set at 2.5). The spindle is the Porter Cable option - quite a heavy unit.
I would appreciate your advice on various items that crop up in discussions of z-axis stalling:
1. Best lubrication for HS-1 ballscrew 2. Should I reduce the speed as well as acceleration in motor config? 3. Is earthing likely to be an issue? 4. Are the debounce settings relevant? 5. Some online posts recommend adding a small flywheel to the top of the z-axis stepper - is this a good idea?
